Assignment 1: Scenario
Daniel, Steven and I interviewed different people at a taxistop at Amstelstation. The environment consists of a field with flowers with crowded citylife surrounding it.These are our foundings:
The different people shared the same opinion. They found the taxistop too noisy and crowded. The reason of being there was to wait for a taxi and not to enjoy the environment.
Scenario 1:
Giel, 36 years old, is a yoga teacher that waits at the taxistop every wednesday. He’s fond of the flowers on the field but he dislikes the fact that there’s so much traffic.
Scenario 2:
Angelique and Lisa, both 18 years old, are waiting for the bus. They do this every day when they return home from school. They hate the fact that the trashcans are always full and they would love some more entertainment while waiting.
Scenario 3:
Toon, 53 years old, is unemployed and visits the taxistop every day. He used to come here with his dog that passed away two years ago. He loves the memory of his dog at this spot, but would love to see more green and silence.
Our solution is a big silence booth surrounding the nature spot. A glass dome that keeps the noise away. It’s a peaceful place where you can wait for a taxi or bus. Inside are some entertainment and information facilities. Examples are: urbanscreening, taxi and bus information, and on demand-television.
My public space

This is one of my favorite places nearby. It’s called Batavia Stad (Batavia City). Batavia Stad is a outlet shopping center in the style of an old town. Not only where I work, but also a place where I like to go in my spare time. There are often things to do here. Such as special treatment day’s or performance shows. The reason I like Batavia Stad the most is probably because there is some kind of nice atmosphere. It’s just outside the center of my home town. So there are very less criminal or high people.
Batavia Stad lies next to the IJselmeer and the Batavia dockyard. Where the re-built of the great Batavia ship is situated. The Batavia was originally built in 1628 in Amsterdam by order of the VOC, the Dutch United East India Company.
